Summer Beaches in Brazil

Lopes Mendes, Angra dos Reis (RJ)

It is not only one of the most beautiful beaches in the country, as it appears among the top 5 in the world in many lists. That’s because Lopes Mendes has a blue Caribbean sea (but that sometimes seems a little green too), bright white and thin sand, and to reach it, you need to walk, since boats are forbidden from docking at the beach. Vila de Abraao – the main in Ilha Grande, which is part of the archipelago of Angra dos Reis – are 2:30h walk, but you can go to the Praia dos Mangos beach by boat and walk through a simple 20 minutes.

Baia do Sancho, Fernando de Noronha (PE)

It is one of the best places in Brazil for free diving (without oxygen cylinder) and snorkeling, since the visibility of turquoise-green water can reach almost 50 meters horizontally, not to mention the wealth of marine life, with stingrays, fishes, turtles… And the landscape? Formed by cliffs, covered by native vegetation and full of bird nests, is simply charming. To get to the beach you must descend a narrow staircase in a cleft, with 40 meters high, which starts at the gazebo of the bay, where is also a rest area with parasols and chairs.

Lagoinha do Leste, Florianopolis (SC)

Prepare your legs to get to this beach, which is the most quiet of the list, with soft sand, rough seas and a stream that forms a delightful pond. Access to this place is by many trekkings, lasting from 1 to 3 hours. But make no mistake, the shortest one has very steep sections. If you go in the summer you can arrive by boat, leaving the beaches of Armacao or Pantano do Sul. However, it is worth climbing the shore on the right side of the beach, to take the best pictures.

Patacho, Porto de Pedras (AL)

Beautiful at high tide, stunning at low tide. Yes, it is worth watching the tides to visit the natural pools that form between the corals, with warm and clear green water, surrounded by soft sand and, in the horizon, dozens of coconut palms. The best part? It’s almost deserted, has no building or tent around and is just 10km away from Sao Miguel, the access is by a small road that runs through the middle of the grove. The moon is an attraction aside, when on the new moon and full moon phases it rises behind the sea and amazes the visitors.

Taipu de Fora, Peninsula do Marau (BA)

With 7km long, bright green sea and golden sand, creates true natural aquariums at low tide, which happens only twice a month – the full and new moons – where you can admire the beautiful corals and fish of the region by snorkeling. Many consider it the niciest natural pool in Brazil, and the beach still has good tents, like the Bar das Meninas.
